Frequently asked questions

FAQ icon

Do you pay for the vehicle upon pick-up?

Yes, we will organise the payment to be made before we pick-up any vehicle. We will also ensure you are 100% happy with our valuation and vehicle removal procedure. Our payments are through Osko by Bpay; if you are with a bank which uses Osko, our payment will be instant.

FAQ icon

My registration is still active, will my registration be cancelled after I sell you the vehicle?

If you still have an active registration, you can take your number plates along with our contract of sale paperwork to VicRoads to recover any remaining registration value. This will also cancel your registration. If you do not do this, we will cancel your registration during our vehicle ‘End of Life’ paperwork.

FAQ icon

Is there paperwork involved?

Yes, during the vehicle removal process we will need you to sign our contract of sale paperwork as well as supplying us with a copy of your valid driver’s licence. We will only have you sign our paperwork once we have agreed on price and you have received our agreed funds via transfer. We can also offer to send you our paperwork for you to sign digitally and send back to us, that way you don’t have to be present when we remove the vehicle if you are busy with work or other commitments.

FAQ icon

Do you purchase vehicles outside of the Melbourne Metro?

Yes, 1800 Salvage is based in Melbourne but we have the scope to pick up vehicles Victoria wide. We can also quote for towing interstate and across to Tasmania.

FAQ icon

What types of salvage vehicles do you buy?

We buy a wide range of vehicles specialising in damaged ‘Salvage Titled’ vehicles. From different manufacturers and models to vehicle types and conditions, we will buy just about any vehicle. If you are not sure about your vehicle, just get in touch with us and we will let you know.

FAQ icon

How much is my salvage car worth?

This depends on a number of factors, including the make and model, its condition, and its age. If you get in touch with us with the details of your vehicle, we can give you a valuation in no time. We can often get back to you within the hour.
